Hockey Opening weekend

A brand new hockey season kicks off this weekend against the Summerland Jets as the teams play Friday night in Summerland then Saturday night at the Sunbowl with a 6:50pm start.

Here are coach Jackson Playfair’s words - “We are pumped and ready for opening weekend.

We are looking forward to seeing some of the young kids we have in our lineup. Ollie Reid and Hudson Podollan were late additions who should a nice offensive punch into our lineup.

That with the addition of Quinn Tavender and Ethan Hamilton as 20 year olds we feel we addressed and revitalized our leadership group. This has led to an immediate improvement in our team culture and our teams character.

We are excited about the new league and new divisions. Seeing some new faces around the league and playing in some arenas we haven’t been to in a few years, all going to make for a fun year” From the action we saw last weekend involving Osoyoos, Summerland, and Princeton, the rivalry among the three teams is well noticed on the ice. That’s the stuff that happens after the whistle and in the corners every time there is some sort of congestion. Players like it, fans like it, I like it, and even the refs like a tiff or two in a game. The new BCHC – British Columbia Hockey Conference is going to be very entertaining and hockey exciting.
