B.C Hockey Conference Junior ‘A’ action this past weekend

Osoyoos Coyotes plays Grand Forks Border Bruins

In the B.C Hockey Conference Junior ‘A’ action this past weekend, the Osoyoos Coyotes edged the Grand Forks Border Bruins 5 to 4 in a Saturday night game in the Forks. Otto Spofforth scored a pair as did Ollie Reid while Julian Galenzas scored his 4th of the season to lead Yotes in scoring with 4 goals.

As we head into the third week of the BC Hockey Conference, the Osoyoos Coyotes have 4 points from 2 wins and a loss and this weekend they have a pair of home games against formidable opposition.

Friday night they host the Beaver Valley Nighthawks who have won 3 of 4 games and have only allowed 5 goals while the Coyotes have allowed 7 in 3 games so expect a defensive type of game on Friday night at the Sunbowl Arena.

Saturday night the Coyotes will take on the Williams Lake Mustangs who are the only undefeated team going into weekend action, however they have only played two games. They are in Grand Forks on Friday night, and the Border Bruins are now winless in four games.

It is very early in the new BCHC league however this weekend sees formidable opposition with the Beaver Valley bunch followed by Williams Lake who could be 3 and 0 in Saturday night’s contest.

The Coyotes have balance as sharp-shooters, Julian Galenza, Ollie Reid and Spofforth are finding the net while the defensive effort of harassing the opponents in their own end shows up in the goals-against column.

The pair of weekend home games both start at 6:50 and the Coyotes have the popular ‘Chuckapuck Toss’ during the 2nd period intermission with the jackpot now over $600 dollars for a bullseye.
