OOSAR Rescues Lost Hikers on Canada Day

Two adult hikers were rescued by Oliver Osoyoos Search and Rescue (OOSAR) in the McKinney Nordic Ski Area on July 1, 2026.

According to a report by Times Chronicle, OOSAR rescued two adult hikers on Canada Day in the McKinney Nordic Ski Area.

The hikers had lost contact with their group and experienced poor cell service, making it difficult for them to find each other.

OOSAR used a text message to locate the hikers, who then sheltered in place for safety until search teams found them by midnight.

Brenda Arychuk from OOSAR emphasized the importance of planning ahead and carrying essential items like bear spray.
