North Winds Reduce Sinlahekin Wildfire Threat to Osoyoos

A shift in wind direction reduces the threat of the Sinlahekin wildfire, but evacuation orders remain in place for Osoyoos residents.

According to a report by the Times Chronicle, north winds have shifted from south to north, reducing the threat of the Sinlahekin wildfire in Osoyoos. However, evacuation orders remain in place for residents due to continued fire growth.

The fire size has increased to 73,794 acres (1,535 hectares) as of Sunday morning, with strong winds on Sunday causing new fire growth and power outages.

Evacuation notices were issued for areas west of the Okanogan River. The Osoyoos Fire Rescue is monitoring the wildfire, and incident briefings will be attended by representatives from multiple agencies.
