South Okanagan General Hospital ER Closure Details Announced

Effective August 17, 2026, at 7 PM, South Okanagan General Hospital will cease its emergency room services overnight until the morning of August 18, 2026, at 7 AM. Patients requiring urgent medical attention can access emergency care at Penticton Regional Hospital during this closure period.

Effective from August 17, 2026, at 7 PM, South Okanagan General Hospital will temporarily suspend its emergency room (ER) services for the overnight period until August 18, 2026, at 7 AM. During this closure, patients in need of urgent medical attention can seek care at Penticton Regional Hospital instead.

In addition to the ER closure, all other inpatient services and outpatient clinics will continue as usual at South Okanagan General Hospital. Residents are advised to call 911 for life-threatening emergencies outside the specified closure period. The affected areas include Oliver, Osoyoos, Salmon Arm, and West Kelowna. All other inpatient services will remain operational during this temporary ER closure.
