Sinlahekin Fire Update: Oroville Residents Return Home, Blaze Grows

Oroville residents have been allowed to return home following the downgrade of evacuation notices for Sinlahekin Fire in Osoyoos area. The fire now covers a vast expanse of 41,655 hectares and remains under close monitoring.

Sinlahekin Fire in the Osoyoos region has seen a significant change in its evacuation status. Evacuation notices for Oroville residents were reduced from Level 2 to Level 1, allowing them to return home as of today.

The fire currently spans over 41,655 hectares and is expanding northward along Tillman Mountain, Quartz Hill, and Palmer Mountain. With containment at just five percent, the situation remains critical for firefighters who are employing aerial support and have deployed 1,099 personnel to combat the blaze.

Despite the downgrade in evacuation levels, other roads remain closed due to ongoing firefighting efforts. The Sinlahekin Fire was initially sparked by lightning on July 19 and continues to be monitored as it grows larger.
