Public opposition to data centers in Alberta is now exceeding support for their construction, with over 80% of Canadians expressing worries about the facilities' environmental impacts and power usage.

The latest poll conducted by Leger on behalf of Canadian Research Insights Council revealed that nearly 79% of Canadians are concerned about the environmental effects, including electricity consumption and water use. Additionally, 46% support building data centers for Canadian AI services, while only 37% oppose such developments.
