Osoyoos Releases Draft Transportation Master Plan to Guide Future Road and Sidewalk Improvements
Osoyoos Seeks Public Feedback on Draft Transportation Master Plan
The Town of Osoyoos is asking residents to help shape the future of transportation in the community by reviewing and commenting on its Draft Transportation Master Plan.
The plan provides a long-term vision for how Osoyoos can improve its transportation network over the coming years. It looks at how people travel throughout the community by vehicle, on foot, by bicycle and with mobility aids, while identifying ways to make those trips safer, more efficient and better connected.
The draft plan recommends improvements to roads, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, cycling routes and key intersections. It also considers how future growth could affect traffic and outlines strategies to help the Town prioritize transportation projects as funding becomes available.
Rather than serving as a construction schedule, the Transportation Master Plan is intended to guide future decision-making. Individual projects will still require approval by Council and will be completed over time as budgets and grant funding allow.
Town officials say community feedback is an important part of the planning process. Residents are encouraged to explore the interactive online plan, which includes maps, proposed improvements and background information explaining how the recommendations were developed.
Once finalized, the Transportation Master Plan will help guide future transportation investments with the goal of creating a safer, more accessible and better-connected community for residents and visitors alike.
The Town is accepting public feedback before the plan is presented for final consideration. Residents can review the complete draft through the Town of Osoyoos' online Transportation Master Plan StoryMap and submit their comments as part of the consultation process.
