Osoyoos Indian Band Forestry Event Celebrates Partnerships and Community Engagement

The Osoyoos Indian Band's Nk'Mip Forestry event on June 24 showcased its commitment to fostering economic development, community engagement, and environmental stewardship.

At the event, Dan Macmaster, Manager of OIB Forestry, emphasized the importance of forestry not just as a source of income but also for its role in environmental stewardship and community voice. He highlighted future collaboration opportunities with Peter Flett from Nk'Mip Forestry's head of operations.

The day was marked by youth engagement through Senpaq'cin Elementary School students who performed a song, and Sutherland Group sponsored a BBQ for attendees. The event provided face-to-face conversations between OIB, forestry team members, and partners across the traditional territory, fostering stronger community bonds.
