OSOYOOS — Veteran public servant and retiree Arlyn Greig has officially entered the municipal race, announcing her candidacy for the Town of Osoyoos Council in the upcoming October 2026 election.

Bringing a robust background in public administration, Greig spent 25 years with Fire and Emergency Services in Fort McMurray, where she also served four terms on the Executive Board for the Firefighters Union. Her extensive administrative experience centers on budgeting, purchasing, and contract negotiations, alongside a history of working collaboratively with federal, provincial, and municipal officials. Her community leadership extends to her previous tenure on the Board of Directors for Seniors Housing in Fort McMurray.

Greig’s campaign centers on three core pillars aimed at reshaping local governance and tackling long-standing community concerns:

Water Quality Solutions: Labeling it the number one issue for local residents and businesses, Greig pledged to collaborate directly with the provincial and federal governments to secure an affordable, timely resolution to Osoyoos's worsening water quality challenges.

Government Transparency: Promising a strict "open-door policy," Greig criticized closed-door practices at Town Hall and vowed to ensure taxpayers have direct access to Council discussions and municipal paperwork.

Fiscal Responsibility: Citing the need for unified and accountable leadership, Greig called for an end to municipal fiscal waste and mismanagement.

A Campaign Built on Principle

In a unique move highlighting her commitment to fiscal prudence, Greig announced she will forgo traditional lawn and street campaign signs, arguing that those funds are better utilized elsewhere.

Furthermore, Greig made a pledge to donate her entire salary as Councillor to local charities, welcoming resident input on which organizations should receive the funds. "I firmly feel that my role is about community service rather than personal gain," Greig stated.
