Osoyoos Coyotes play at home This Weekend

The final two games of the warm-up season for the Osoyoos Coyotes takes place this weekend as they host the Summerland Jets, Friday night at 6:50 and then it’s the Princeton Posse riding into town for a 4 oclock Saturday afternoon game.

Coach Jackson Playfair says he wants to continue building the defensive game that stunned the Border Bruins last Saturday when the desert guys allowed just 9 shots over the final 40 minutes of action.

The Friday night game could get a bit testy as Summerland has four of last years Coyote team in their line-up and the Jets are off to a sluggish start in the pre-season but they are a new team building from the ground up,

Saturday afternoon has the KIJHL’s Final runner-up as Kimberley beat the Princeton Posse in Overtime in Kimberley in game 7 and that closed the door on the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.

Yes folks, the game is a stride-faster now that the B.C. Hockey Conference is a 22-team Junior ‘A’ hockey league in which the winner will go on to represent the province next spring in Centennial Cup Action right across Canada.

The following weekend the season opens with Osoyoos in Summerland Friday night, then Summerland here on Saturday night with a 6:50 start. Sunday afternoon it is the Canuck Alumni Game as Canucks of the past will take on a team of local excellence at the Sunbowl arena at 2pm.

Former Canuck and Osoyoos resident Neil Eisenhut should be in that Vancouver lineup.
