Oliver Implements Drought-Fighting Measures Amid Water Usage Surge
The Town of Oliver has escalated its water conservation efforts in response to a significant increase in domestic and irrigation water usage, reaching 35% over the previous year.
In response to a substantial rise in water usage, the Town of Oliver has expanded its conservation measures. Currently under Stage 3 domestic water restrictions, the town is now implementing Stage 1 irrigation water restrictions as well. This move follows a 35% increase in overall water consumption compared to July last year.
Additionally, the region's Drought Level 4 and High Water Scarcity Level conditions have prompted the town to request voluntary reductions in both surface and groundwater use. If these measures prove insufficient, regulatory actions may be considered.
