Oliver Fire Department to Assess Workload Following Diverse Calls
The Oliver Fire Department is gearing up for an assessment after responding to a diverse array of calls during a busy wildfire season, including first responder and ambulance services.
In response to a busy wildfire season that saw the Oliver Fire Department responding to 34 calls in July alone, including numerous first responder and ambulance services, Council members are now considering potential changes. These discussions come as firefighters have reported fatigue from handling smaller incidents alongside their larger fire duties.
The department has full service status for significant fires but is still grappling with challenges during less severe events. In light of these observations, the Oliver Fire Department will present a comprehensive report at an upcoming meeting to evaluate current service levels and make recommendations based on this assessment.
