Bryan Adams: What A Show!

It was 1992 when Bryan Adams attracted 30,000 people to a concert at Desert Park and Sunday night in Penticton 5000 attended the sold-out show at the South Okanagan Event Center in Penticton.

Adams and the three band members performed the songs to perfection, however it was the other talent possessed by Bryan as a ‘noted’ photographer that produced a show seen from every possible angle.

There was a track running along the back of the stage shooting the backs of the band and the audience facing the stage. That was projected on a massive screen at the back of the stage. There are numerous frontal shots from the far end right up to close-ups of the fantastic finger work from the lead-guitarist.

There was also a lady who roamed the stage with a camera that took those close-up shots, from all sides and shots from the floor level.

Then there were the lights, especially the ones worn by the audience as everyone got a wristband that had 3 lights inside that were red- blue- and bright white and they were all programmed to light along with the song the band was playing. The overhead lights were also programmed to the music.

Two songs featured a large floating car, while another included a cloud-like object that hovered 50 feet above the crowd near the stage before disappearing into the darkness at the back of the venue.

The music was performed with lights flashing and videos on the screen at all angles, creating a cacophony of flashing lights, close-ups and screen views of the show from numerous angles.

“Everything I Do, I Do It For You” got a loud ovation, but the biggest of the evening came when they performed “We Will Never Be The 51st State”. That made the hair rise on the back of necks.

Bryan Adams saluted Terry Fox in the show as his Canadiana was front and center throughout the show. A person who has seen concerts in Wembley Stadium in England with 100,000 in attendance says the Bryan Adams concert is the best he has ever seen. I’ll ditto those remarks.
