Town of Oliver Finalizes New Drought Management Plan

The Town of Oliver has finalized a new drought management plan after months of discussion, aiming to provide more accurate water level indicators and track real-time consumption.

According to a report by the Times Chronicle, the Town of Oliver has finalized a new drought management plan after months of discussion. The plan aims to provide more accurate water level indicators for better drought warnings.

The new system will use groundwater levels and snowpack data instead of Skaha Lake elevation. It includes a tiered system with operational and trend-based early warning signs for different stages of restrictions, ranging from Awareness to Emergency.

Mayor Martin Johansen supports the plan as well-crafted for implementation, while Councillor Aimee Grice emphasizes the importance of timely provincial government readings for better planning.
