In a contentious vote, the Osoyoos council denied a request for reduced off-street parking variance from developers aiming to minimize the number of spaces per dwelling unit in townhouse developments. The property at 4601 97th Street requested one space per house instead of the standard 1.5-space requirement.

Town planner Shannon Duong highlighted additional limitations, including road alignment and servicing requirements, which necessitated a higher off-street parking count. Despite these constraints, concerns were raised by councillors about potential access issues and safety hazards if off-street parking was insufficient.
