Oliver Town Council Approves Water Restrictions Amid Declining Wells

The Town of Oliver has implemented Stage 3 water restrictions, limiting domestic usage and watering schedules to address declining water levels in its wells.

In response to significant drops in water levels at its wells, including Rockcliffe and Tucelnuit P2, the Town of Oliver has approved Stage 3 water restrictions. These measures include reducing domestic water consumption by half and limiting watering to once a week.

Odd-numbered houses can water from 7 PM to 9 AM on Wednesdays, while even-numbered units are permitted to water from 7 PM to 9 AM on Fridays. Micro and drip irrigation users have an additional day of watering for odd-numbered properties on Saturdays and even-numbered units on Tuesdays.

Despite some councillors preferring Stage 2 restrictions, Council approved Stage 3 due to the urgent need to conserve resources in light of declining water levels at Miller Well, which has fallen below its 1.5-litre threshold and cannot sustain recharge.
