Oliver Council Approves Arena Expansion Fees Amidst Municipality Rate Adjustments

The Town of Oliver's council has approved an increase in arena fees by two percent for the upcoming fiscal year, aligning with neighboring municipalities' fee structures.

Following a discussion centered on a two percent increase across the board, with exceptions for certain services, the Oliver council approved the motion to raise arena fees. Director of Recreation Carol Sheridan explained that this adjustment was necessary for cost recovery and ensuring affordability.

Councillor David Mattes voiced concerns regarding the low percentage increase, emphasizing his belief that more substantial adjustments were needed to maintain the fee structure's integrity in relation to neighboring municipalities' rates.
