A young black bear was spotted near Oliver's International Hike and Bike Trail in Meadows Drive area, heading south.

According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, a young black bear was spotted near Oliver's International Hike and Bike Trail in the Meadows Drive area on Tuesday.

The Town of Oliver received a report about the bear's presence at 12:12 p.m. on Tuesday.

Town staff observed the bear drinking from a river by Diamond 1 as part of their investigation.

Residents are advised to take necessary precautions when visiting the trail, including staying alert, making noise, keeping dogs leashed, traveling with others, securing attractants, and carrying bear spray.
