South Okanagan-Similkameen Communities Mobilize to Help Evacuees

Communities across South Okanagan-Similkameen are coming together to support Bald Range wildfire evacuees and their neighbors.

According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, communities across South Okanagan-Similkameen are mobilizing to help Bald Range wildfire evacuees and their neighbors. The South Okanagan Chamber of Commerce is encouraging business owners to share their needs with [email protected].

Oliver's Global Grocers is collecting donations for OneSky Community Resources and St. Ann's Parish in Penticton, while Remax and Richter Pass Beach Resort are arranging essential items deliveries. Nature's Basket has also been selling 20 pounds of peaches from an evacuating farmer, with proceeds going to the farmer.

The Similkameen Country Development Association is sharing spaces for evacuees at Ashnola Campground and Grist Mill Campground, while Keremeos Legion Branch 192 is offering parking space for evacuees with vehicles. The Bear family's visit to a golf course in Vernon has raised concerns about potential conflicts.
