Quick Response Halts Cawston Area Fire

A spot fire in the Ashnola area of Cawston quickly led to swift action by local authorities, resulting in its prompt extinguishment.

Lower Similkameen Indian Band reported the fire in the Ashnola area at around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

BC Wildfire Service and Lower Similkameen Indian Band personnel were en route to the site by 3:45 p.m., where they successfully extinguished the blaze.

No casualties were reported, but five people from Saturna Island were rescued from a boat.

The fire was identified as a spot fire that quickly responded to and contained by local authorities.
