A single osprey chick named Soo after Osoyoos and Ollie after Oliver successfully fledged from its nest in June. The chick overcame the loss of two siblings due to starvation and sibling rivalry, respectively. Despite ongoing technical issues with the live-stream camera, FortisBC continues to fund and operate the educational initiative near Osoyoos Elementary School.

The osprey chicks were part of three eggs laid by their parents last year, but none hatched successfully. With current equipment unreliable, birders hope for new funding or technological solutions to keep the live-stream camera active as a means of education and community engagement.
