Osoyoos Manganese Water Advisory Remains in Effect
The Town of Osoyoos has issued a manganese water quality advisory, which may last due to naturally occurring element.
According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, the Town of Osoyoos has issued a manganese water quality advisory. The advisory was first issued on July 7th and may remain in effect for a while due to naturally occurring element levels measured at 0.125 and 0.159 mg/L, which are above Health Canada's limit.
Interim chief administrative officer Marg Coulson stated that the team is working with Interior Health to address the issue. Residents are advised to use alternate safe sources for infants and immunocompromised individuals.
The advisory has been in effect for three weeks, and Osoyoos staff warn that it may last due to manganese's natural occurrence.
