The Osoyoos Band is engaging in discussions with the B.C. government over land issues, aiming to resolve a century-old dispute regarding sacred sites and reserve boundaries.

The Osoyoos Band is in discussions with the B.C. government to address longstanding land disputes involving sacred sites and reserve boundaries. Chief Clarence Louie of the band has emphasized that their primary goal is to reclaim old reserve lands, including culturally significant areas and an ancestral burial site. These negotiations focus on a Crown land swap aimed at re-drawing where the reserve begins and ends. Osoyoos Band Chief Clarence Louie has clarified that no private property will be affected by these discussions.

B.C. Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation Spencer Chandra Herbert supports the collaborative efforts, stating his commitment to finding mutually beneficial solutions for both parties.
