OOSAR Team Saves Lost Hikers in Cold Conditions

Two adult hikers were found safe and warm by South Okanagan Search and Rescue (SAR) team after spending an entire night in the cold of McKinney Nordic Ski Area.

The OOSAR team, tasked by RCMP at 4:30 PM on Canada Day (July 1), located the two lost hikers in cold and challenging conditions. The pair were found after a long search that extended well into the night.

Hikers had limited cell service and battery life, making it difficult to pinpoint their exact location. Despite these challenges, OOSAR team members used various tools including thermal imaging cameras and ground teams to locate the hikers safely by midnight.
