Oliver Teen's Kayak Journey Prepares for BC Summer Games
Lynnea Holmstrom, a local teenager from Oliver, is gearing up for the upcoming 2026 BC Summer Games in Kelowna with an ambitious kayaking challenge.
Lynnea Holmstrom, a young Indigenous woman from Oliver, is preparing to participate in the 2026 BC Summer Games by attempting a challenging 20-kilometre kayak journey. This kayaking challenge, sponsored by oGo Float and part of the Oliver Ambassador Program, celebrates her status as a First Nations person under the Treaty of Amity, Commerce, and Navigation.
Holmstrom's journey will involve joining traditional canoes for the Osoyoos-to-Oroville trip, which she hopes to complete ahead of the games. The program aims to honor Indigenous heritage and leadership within Oliver, ensuring Holmstrom is well-supported in her ambitions.
