Oliver's Healthcare Housing Project Welcomes First Residents
A new project aimed at keeping South Okanagan General Hospital's ER open more often has welcomed its first residents.
According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, the healthcare housing project in Oliver's Eastside Avenue Housing units has welcomed its first residents.
The project, unveiled in April near South Okanagan General Hospital, aims to keep the hospital's ER open more often with increased healthcare staff in town. This comes after frequent emergency department closures due to staff shortages in the rural town of Oliver.
Two furnished two-bedroom modular homes have been built specifically for healthcare workers, providing them with a place to stay while they work at the hospital.
