Okanagan Cooling Stations Open Amidst Heat Wave

Two cooling stations have opened in Oliver and Osoyoos to assist vulnerable populations during this week's heat warnings.

In response to the anticipated heat wave, two cooling stations have been established in Oliver and Osoyoos. The Okanagan Regional Library in Oliver will be open from Tuesday through Thursday, offering hours of 10am to midnight. In Osoyoos, the Sonora Community Centre is available Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 8pm, with Saturday operating hours from 9am to 4pm.

Heat conditions are forecasted at 37°C today and reaching 35°C on Wednesday. These cooling stations aim to provide respite for individuals who may be affected by heat-related risks including seniors, those with health conditions, mental illness, or substance use disorders.
