New Childcare Spaces to Attract Young Families to Osoyoos

According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, Osoyoos councillor Johnny Cheong has announced that new childcare spaces will attract young families and resources to the town. The Dharma Kids Centre has recently announced a second infant and toddler facility in Osoyoos, facing high demand.

The need for more educators is highlighted due to lower ratios for younger age groups, as stated by Councillor Cheong. A Childcare Needs Assessment found uneven numbers of children, including higher spots needed for 3-5-year-old programs.

To address these needs, the Town of Osoyoos established a Childcare Advisory Committee with local stakeholders. Councillor Cheong congratulated Dharma Kids Centre owners Megan Llorente and Jav Somji for their community contributions.
