LSIB Monitoring Large Smoke Column from Sinlahekin Fire

The Lower Similkameen Indian Band is monitoring a large smoke column from the Sinlahekin Fire, which is located south of the international border near Chopaka.

According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, the Lower Similkameen Indian Band is aware of a large smoke column from the Sinlahekin Fire, which is located approximately 8 kilometres south of the international border near Chopaka. The fire is being monitored by both the LSIB and the BC Wildfire Service.

The smoke column is being tracked due to temperatures, winds, fuel loads, and fire behaviour. The situation is being closely watched for any changes in scope or risk. The LSIB is also in contact with the Washington State incident management team for support.
