According to a report by the Times Chronicle (https://www.timeschronicle.ca/ijc-to-hold-public-meeting-on-possible-watershed-board), the IJC has established a working group to explore the possibility of a watershed board for the Osoyoos Lake region. The public listening sessions will be held in July at three locations: Sonora Centre, Tonasket Community Cultural Center, and a virtual event.
The working group aims to determine the benefits of an international watershed board and propose its structure. IJC notes that existing watershed boards have been successful in addressing transboundary water issues. The study is expected to be completed by fall 2026 with a final report submitted to the IJC in spring 2027.
