Haynes Creek Wildfire East of Osoyoos Now Held
A wildfire east of Osoyoos is now under control, according to the BC Wildfire Service.
According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, a wildfire east of Osoyoos is now held by the BC Wildfire Service. The fire, located in the Haynes Creek area, has burned approximately 2.21 hectares of grassy and timbered land near Highway 3 rest stop.
Thirteen BCWS crew members responded to the scene with two helicopters and air tankers. An evacuation alert was issued for Cougar Court and Sasquatch Trail on Anarchist Mountain due to potential worsening conditions.
Residents are advised to review their evacuation plans as the situation is being closely monitored by local authorities. The fire is suspected to be human-caused, under investigation by the BC Wildfire Service.
