BC NDP Leader David Eby Discusses Rural Doctor Shortages and Urgent Care in Oliver

Oliver, BC - BC NDP leader David Eby visited Oliver to discuss rural doctor shortages and urgent care.

According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, BC NDP leader David Eby recently visited Oliver to address rural doctor shortages and urgent care concerns.

During his visit, Eby discussed the need for a primary care centre in Oliver within two years if the NDP is re-elected. He also highlighted the struggles of the local hospital's emergency rooms due to short staffing.

The NDP leader announced plans to recruit doctors from the US and international sources to address the shortage. Additionally, the party aims to train more nurse practitioners and family doctors to support primary care.

Eby also called for reforming funding for autism care needs, citing up to three-year wait times for assessments in the region.
