BC Conservatives Pledge $50M for Osoyoos and Hedley's Water Projects
The BC Conservatives have pledged $50 million to support water projects in Osoyoos and Hedley.
According to Castanet Oliver/Osoyoos, the BC Conservatives have pledged $50 million to support water projects in Osoyoos and Hedley. The pledge comes as part of the party's election promises, with a focus on addressing drinking water issues in the Boundary-Similkameen region.
The specific allocations include $5 million for a new water source in Hedley and $45 million for Osoyoos' treatment plant. This is a significant reduction from previous estimates, which had suggested that the treatment plant alone would require over $80 million.
Hedley will benefit from a permanent solution to its arsenic problem, while Osoyoos will receive a project without an overwhelming cost. The pledge was supported by Conservative MLA candidate Donegal Wilson, who sees it as a step towards safer water in communities.
