Accessible Washrooms Project Completed at Osoyoos Desert Centre

A five-year effort to create accessible washrooms at the Osoyoos Desert Centre has come to fruition with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

According to Times Chronicle, the accessible washrooms project at Osoyoos Desert Centre has been completed with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The project, which began over five years ago, involved extensive planning and community support.

Lee McFadyen, President of the Osoyoos Desert Society, welcomed guests to the opening, while Jayme Friedt, Executive Director, described the project as 'Homer's Odyssey' due to the challenges faced. Volunteers played a crucial role in the construction process, including Larry Stone and Tom Harvey.

The project received support from funders, local businesses, trades, and community volunteers. A plaque at the centre highlights the substantial involvement of various groups in the community effort.
