According to the Times Chronicle (https://www.timeschronicle.ca/green-chemical-spill-in-osoyoos-not-a-hazardous-material), a green chemical spill occurred on Hwy. 3/Main St. in Osoyoos on June 18, caused by a vehicle turning left onto 85th St. The Ministry of Environment and Parks (ENV) advises that the spill is not hazardous material, as it is primarily composed of lime sulfur, a mixture used in horticulture and veterinary care as a fungicide, insecticide, and antiseptic.
The Town of Osoyoos, Osoyoos Fire Department, and ENV were involved in the response to the spill. Due to its proximity to watercourses and concerns about pavement damage, the spill was left as is, with no hazardous response actions taken.
