Oliver Council Seeks to Boost Use of Community Grants for Water Projects

The Town of Oliver's Council has approved plans to shift away from relying solely on loans, opting instead to increase its use of grant funding for water projects.

In a bid to reduce its reliance on loans for water projects, the Council of the Town of Oliver has voted to utilize the Canada Community Building Fund (CCBF) for the rehabilitation of the Rockcliffe irrigation facility.

Staff recommendations suggest that 50% of the Rockcliffe project will be funded through CCBF grants. The remaining portion will be allocated using alternative community grants, such as those from the BC Growing Communities Fund, which have certain restrictions.

The Council's decision to allocate funds in this manner is part of a broader strategy to diversify its funding sources and ensure sustainable growth for water projects within the town.
